Lidl deploys a cab-less autonomous electric truck for daily store deliveries in Germany. The SAE Level 4 vehicle, supplied by Swedish freight tech company Einride, runs a fixed replenishment route between Lidl's Edermünde distribution centre and a nearby store under a permit from Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority. It represents one of the first commercial driverless freight operations on public European roads, showing that autonomous vehicle regulation and edge AI deployment are reaching production maturity in logistics.
