Apple could help you prove your iPhone photos aren’t deepfakes

Apple is building a camera provenance feature to verify authentic iPhone photographs. The iOS 27 beta includes code for an "Apple Reference Image" system that embeds verification metadata directly at the point of capture. This tool helps combat deepfakes by giving developers and users a reliable cryptographic method to distinguish real photography from AI-generated imagery.
